We are PURE & SIMPLE! - The trio of Dr. Steven Lee, Barbara Lail, and Cliff Hicklen write and play music for and about children. With a blend of accomplished musicianship and vocal harmony, we create songs that are educational and fun--a simply delightful time for all! As children, we grow, learn, and dream. PURE & SIMPLE is a celebration of that experience.

Our music is about Friendship and Self-Esteem, Conflict Resolution, Literacy for Kids, Ecology and Environmental Awareness, Families Here and Around the World, Personal Safety (includes substance abuse awareness), and Peace In Our World.

PURE & SIMPLE performs at schools, preschools, libraries, community centers, child and family expos,  town get-togethers, parties, company, and corporate picnics events, and all manner of occasions.

PURE & SIMPLE, with their original songs and varied repertoire, entertains families with upbeat interactive music that appeals to both children and adults (whether parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents, counselors, teachers, or other caretakers) and hits the spot for people of all ages.

Pure & Simple performed at the "UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY"  in 2002 hosted by Levar Burton of PBS' "Reading Rainbow". Our show about kids literacy (entitled "From A to Z: Reading Is Everything") received a rave review from the United Nations children, community students, delegates, and families.

Pure & Simple also performed at the Goldman-Sachs Investment Firm Family Day in Central Park, New York where they played their special brand of music for kids, parents, and families. Their music is truly a magical experience for children of ALL ages!

While "Homework Blues" (Winner, 1998 Children's Web Award, 'Best Song for Older Children') provides a humorous view of homework, "You and I Are Friends" teaches the importance of friendship. "When I Was Two" (Finalist, 1998 Children's Web Award, 'Best Song for Younger Children') is about kids growing and mastering new skills and how good it makes them feel about themselves.
