What is Children's Music?

Hi Everyone! I'm Steve. I have worked with kids, families, parents, and teachers for years as a school psychologist. I was a songwriter and musician from the time I was twelve. Way in the past, I used to think children's music was something that had to be "at their level" and therefore sing-songy and even kind of immature. Well, it does need to be "at their level" but I discovered that kids, in their own way, understand just as much as adults do, and sometimes even more. We have just as much to learn from them as they do from us. That is what our children's music is about.

We write about different issues of children's lives and together, with parents, teachers, or caretakers, we learn about each other. As adults, we rediscover our childhood, and the thoughts and feelings we had as kids that are still very strong within us. Some of our songs help kids with different problems they may encounter in the world as they grow older or just everyday experiences that we all can relate to. The secret to children's music is doing this in a fun and upbeat way.
